Tucker Carlson, co-founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, sharply criticized America’s political and media elites for ignoring two destructive forces—violence and greed—that he says are corroding the nation. Speaking Friday alongside Jason Whitlock of The Blaze, Carlson argued the establishment focuses on socially convenient issues while diverting attention from deeper, systemic corruption.
“Racism is a sin, clearly. Cruelty is a sin. Judgment is a sin. But those are not the only sins,” Carlson said. “Two of the sins that are totally ignored that I do think are kind of wrecking the country are violence and greed, and those are never mentioned, ever.”
Carlson blasted Washington’s prioritization of military spending, pointing out that a majority of discretionary federal funds—around $1 trillion—go to what he called “violence,” despite no imminent threat of foreign invasion. He also highlighted how financial giants like Citibank exploit Americans through high interest rates, calling it “worse than loan sharking,” protected by laws championed by Democrats like Joe Biden.
He tied these issues to broader moral hypocrisy among political elites. “We allow the worst people in the world to occupy the moral high ground,” Carlson said, describing how cities like Selma, Alabama—symbolic in civil rights history—suffer under policies pushed by people who only use them for political clout.
With Selma’s poverty rate nearing 20% and Alabama ranking among the poorest U.S. states, Carlson questioned why those who profit off the civil rights legacy show no regard for the current suffering of its residents.
Calling for a reframing of national conversations, Carlson challenged Americans to stop accepting the terms set by elites who claim the moral high ground while ignoring the real consequences of their policies.
