Portnoy Sends Patrons to Auschwitz After Antisemitic Incident at Barstool Bar

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has announced an unconventional response to an antisemitic incident at his Philadelphia bar. After patrons ordered a bottle-service sign reading “F*** the Jews,” Portnoy decided to send those involved on an educational trip to Auschwitz, aiming to turn the offense into a teaching moment.

The incident occurred at Barstool Sansom Street, where a video surfaced showing waitresses presenting the offensive sign. Portnoy, who is Jewish, initially reacted with anger, vowing to “ruin” those responsible. However, upon reflection, he opted for a different approach. “These are young f***ing morons who did this,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of education over destruction.

Portnoy confirmed that the individuals involved agreed to the trip, which he will fund. He also consulted with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who leads an anti-Semitism advocacy group, to ensure the response was appropriate.

In addition to the educational trip, the two waitresses who presented the sign have been terminated. Temple University has suspended a student identified as involved in the incident and is conducting a broader investigation.

Portnoy’s decision reflects a commitment to combating antisemitism through education and awareness, aiming to prevent future incidents by fostering understanding.
