Teacher Calls for Trump Assassination on Facebook

A high school English teacher in Maine is under investigation after openly calling for the assassination of President Donald Trump in a series of shocking Facebook posts. JoAnna St. Germain, a teacher at Waterville Senior High School, wrote that “Trump and his cronies need to die” and suggested the Secret Service should “step up and take it” as their responsibility to eliminate him and his supporters.

“If I had the skill set required, I would take them out myself,” she added, according to The New York Post. Her comments, which included calls for coordinated violence and accusations that Trump was running a “fascist dictatorship,” have since been widely condemned.

St. Germain dismissed the gravity of her remarks, writing, “I have zero shame about what I’ve said… I’m not backtracking a single thing.” She acknowledged the risk to her job and pinned the comments to the top of her now-deleted Facebook page. In a follow-up post, she doubled down, saying, “If you’re mad that I’m speaking truth to power? F*** you.”

Waterville Public Schools Superintendent Peter Hallen confirmed that the district is actively investigating the incident in coordination with the proper authorities. “Please know that I have taken steps to ensure everyone’s safety,” Hallen stated, emphasizing that due process and school safety remain his top priorities.

St. Germain’s remarks appear to be in direct violation of federal law and may result in legal consequences. The Secret Service has not publicly commented on whether it is pursuing criminal charges.
