Former Disney Star Thanks Planned Parenthood for ‘Life-Saving Work’

Pop singer and former Disney star Olivia Rodrigo is once again making headlines—not for her music, but for her radical pro-abortion activism. On Thursday, Rodrigo proudly accepted the “Catalyst of Change Award” from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, using her platform to celebrate one of the largest abortion providers in the nation.

Speaking at the group’s annual Spring Into Action gala in New York City, the 21-year-old performer praised Planned Parenthood’s so-called “life-saving work,” despite the fact that the organization performs hundreds of thousands of abortions each year. In her speech, Rodrigo lamented that “oppressive laws” were keeping young women from chasing their dreams—an apparent swipe at pro-life legislation across the country.

“What happens to those girls when they leave those venues? What are their dreams?” she asked, suggesting that abortion access is somehow essential to a woman’s success.

The former Disney star boasted that she has helped raise over $2 million for abortion groups around the world and lauded Planned Parenthood for its continued efforts to expand abortion access. “It’s a privilege to be here tonight,” she said, praising the organization for acting “with compassion, hope, and dignity for women.”

This is not the first time Rodrigo has stirred controversy over her stance. Last year, she shocked parents by offering morning-after abortion pills at her concerts—an alarming move given her young fanbase, many of whom are still teenagers. In 2022, she used her Sour tour to promote abortion, telling fans to “protect our right to have a safe abortion.”

In 2023, Rodrigo even dedicated a vulgar song to the U.S. Supreme Court after it overturned Roe v. Wade, telling her audience she was “devastated and terrified” by the decision.

While Rodrigo claims to stand for women’s “healthcare” and “humanitarian work,” many Americans view her activism as an unfortunate reflection of Hollywood’s continued detachment from family values, personal responsibility, and the sanctity of life.
