Fox News Commentator Launches Conservative Campaign for California Governor

Former Fox News host and conservative commentator Steve Hilton is officially starting his campaign into the race for California governor, aiming to put an end to what he calls the state’s “15 years of stagnation and decline under one-party Democratic rule.” Hilton is set to launch his campaign Tuesday in Huntington Beach, backed by a message focused on restoring prosperity and common sense in the Golden State.

Hilton, 55, who served as a senior adviser to former UK Prime Minister David Cameron before moving to the U.S., has since become a U.S. citizen and a bold voice for conservative values. He previously hosted The Next Revolution on Fox News and currently runs Golden Together, a policy group dedicated to tackling California’s spiraling issues — from homelessness to crime to unaffordable living.

Under the campaign theme “Golden Again: Great Jobs, Great Homes, Great Kids,” Hilton told the Southern California News Group:

“I just want to ask people to imagine what California would be like after another 15 years of one-party rule by the Democrats… It is just a disaster on every front.”

Hilton also released a campaign video, saying it’s “time for a new future” and pledging to bring accountability, opportunity, and real reform back to Sacramento.

While Democrats crowd the race with career politicians — including former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, ex-L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and progressive firebrand Katie Porter — Hilton joins a small but growing Republican field that currently includes Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. Many conservatives see Hilton as a fresh outsider with the energy and ideas needed to turn the tide in a state long dominated by failed liberal policies.

If elected, Hilton promises to confront the radical policies driving families and businesses out of the state and bring California back to its roots — strong families, safe communities, and a thriving economy.
