American Pastor Rescued Gives Thanks to God for His Survival

American pastor Josh Sullivan is giving all glory to God following his miraculous rescue from being held hostage in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, where he was taken hostage during a brazen church attack that turned deadly.

“I want to begin by thanking God for delivering me from what was undoubtedly the worst experience of our life,” Sullivan said in a heartfelt statement. The pastor emphasized that his “personal relationship with Jesus” was the sustaining force that helped him endure the traumatic ordeal. “It was because of these prayers that God performed a miracle a few nights ago.”

Sullivan had been serving at the Fellowship Baptist Church in the township of Motherwell since 2018. His abduction shocked the local community and sent prayer chains into overdrive across the globe. On April 15, armed men stormed his church mid-service and dragged him from the pulpit. His truck was discovered hours later, raising serious concerns for his safety.

Thankfully, the rescue mission, spearheaded by South Africa’s elite Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (HAWKS), in coordination with the FBI and DSS special agents, was a success. Authorities located Sullivan in a safe house in KwaMagxaki, Gqeberha, and safely brought him out of harm’s way.

Sullivan expressed deep gratitude to the law enforcement teams who risked their lives to save him and also credited his wife, whom he called “the strongest woman in the world last week,” for her unwavering courage throughout the ordeal.

While Sullivan has requested privacy as he recovers, he promised that he would share the full story in time, calling it nothing short of miraculous.

In a world increasingly hostile to faith, Sullivan’s story stands as a powerful reminder of divine protection, answered prayer, and the resilience of those who place their trust in God.
