Newport Beach Mayor Joe Stapleton Launches Reelection Bid, Vows to Keep City Conservative

Newport Beach Mayor Joe Stapleton officially launched his reelection campaign last month with a powerful message: protect one of Orange County’s most successful, conservative-run cities from the failures sweeping across California’s liberal strongholds.

Amid ongoing attempts by Democrats to flip Orange County, Stapleton is doubling down on what works — law and order, fiscal responsibility, and strong community values. At a March 27 fundraiser hosted by the Gitibin family, Stapleton’s campaign brought in a record-breaking $175,000 in a single night, signaling robust support for his leadership.

“Stapleton, together with dream team Alexandra Taylor and Lauryn Killian, brought together 180 leading supporters,” the campaign stated, calling the event “a clear show of strength” for the mayor’s re-election effort.

Elected to the City Council in 2022 and elevated to mayor in 2024, Stapleton has helped guide Newport Beach to a series of notable achievements. These include a dramatic reduction in homelessness — down to just 11 individuals — expanded police resources, and the city’s fire department earning a prestigious Class 1 rating, a distinction few municipalities achieve.

Speaking at the fundraiser, Stapleton reaffirmed his commitment to keeping Newport Beach a beacon of responsible governance in contrast to cities like Los Angeles.

“Strong leadership matters,” Stapleton said. “We’ve made tremendous progress, but the work is not done. Newport Beach will continue to be a model city — safe, prosperous, and proud.”

With no challenger currently declared, Stapleton’s reelection campaign is off to a commanding start. His leadership represents not only a local success story, but also a powerful rebuttal to the progressive mismanagement seen in so many other California cities.
