Morgan Wallen Leaves ‘SNL’ for ‘God’s Country’ After Performance

Country superstar Morgan Wallen made his long-awaited return to Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, but his swift exit after the show caught fans’ attention.

Wallen took the stage at 30 Rockefeller Plaza to promote his upcoming album, I’m the Problem, performing the title track and another song, Just in Case. After host Mikey Madison thanked him, Wallen walked straight off the stage as the cameras panned out, leaving some viewers wondering if something was wrong.

However, sources told Fox News Digital that the moment was unintentional. Wallen had been entering and exiting the studio the same way throughout the week during rehearsals, and the walk-off was simply a habit.

Shortly after leaving SNL, Wallen posted on Instagram, “Get me to God’s country,” signaling his eagerness to return home.

His SNL appearance marked a full-circle moment after a rocky history with the show. In 2020, he was originally scheduled to perform but was removed from the lineup after video footage surfaced of him ignoring COVID protocols at an Alabama football game. Wallen later apologized, admitting he had “lost himself a little bit” and needed to step back from the spotlight.

Just two months later, SNL invited him back, allowing him to perform and even joke about the controversy in a sketch alongside Pete Davidson, Jason Bateman, and Bowen Yang. Wallen expressed gratitude to the audience, thanking them for giving “this poor Southern boy a second Yankee chance.”

Now, with his return to SNL behind him, Morgan Wallen is looking ahead to the 2025 ACM Awards, where he’s nominated in multiple major categories, including Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.
