A 12-year-old student from Veterans Park Academy for the Arts in Lehigh Acres was arrested Thursday after authorities discovered a “manifesto” outlining plans to plant bombs around the school.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school after students reported concerning drawings made by the boy. Investigators later found a detailed map showing where he planned to place bombs on campus, along with a written “manifesto” in which he declared his intent to commit violent acts. Authorities also examined the student’s school-issued Chromebook and found a search history that included bomb-making videos, notable serial killers, and terrorists.
The student now faces serious felony charges, including written or electronic threats to commit terrorism and threats to use a destructive device. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging parents to closely monitor their children’s online activity and behavior.
Earlier this year, authorities in Indiana arrested a transgender high school student accused of plotting a mass shooting at Mooresville High School, just outside Indianapolis, on Valentine’s Day.
Mooresville Metropolitan Police detectives received a tip from the FBI on Tuesday evening regarding a potential threat. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Trinity J. Shockley, was taken into custody following a coordinated investigation involving local law enforcement agencies.
Police say Shockley planned to carry out the attack on Friday and had made alarming statements in online chats. Investigators discovered that Shockley had referenced the Parkland school shooting, allegedly calling the plan “Parkland part two.” The tip that led to Shockley’s arrest originated from the Sandy Hook Tip Line.
The Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Shockley with plotting to commit murder and intimidation, citing a threat to commit terrorism. Shockley is being held without bond at the Morgan County Jail.
