Police Report Filed Against Rep. Jasmine Crockett

A police report has reportedly been filed against Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett after she was caught on video grabbing a reporter’s camera inside the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. Charles Downs, a reporter for Loomer Unleashed, accused the Texas congresswoman of assault, battery, and attempted theft following the Tuesday morning incident.

The altercation occurred around 10 a.m. as Downs attempted to question Crockett about her involvement in the “Tesla Takedown” movement. Video footage shared on X shows Downs asking Crockett if she would clarify her comments from a March 19 activist call, where she stated, “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.” Before Downs could complete his second question, Crockett reached for his phone and made physical contact with him.

Downs later filed a police report with Capitol Police, alleging that Crockett’s actions were inappropriate and an attempt to silence questioning. He described the incident as “disturbing,” adding that no member of Congress should react aggressively toward a journalist simply for asking a question.

Crockett’s involvement in the “Tesla Takedown” movement has drawn scrutiny, as the activist coalition, reportedly funded by ActBlue, has organized nationwide protests against Tesla. The Department of Justice is currently investigating violent attacks on Tesla properties, which are being classified as domestic terrorism. Several suspects could face up to 20 years in prison.

Attorney General Pam Bondi recently addressed Crockett’s remarks, warning the congresswoman to “tread very carefully” in her statements targeting Elon Musk. Meanwhile, Crockett’s Chief of Staff, Kimberly McClain, defended her actions, stating that the congresswoman was merely protecting her personal safety. McClain also thanked Rep. Tim Burchett for intervening in the situation.
