The Trump administration is revoking the legal status of more than 500,000 migrants who entered the United States under a parole program created during the Biden administration.
According to CBS News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will terminate the work permits and deportation protections of 532,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela in April. These individuals were admitted through the CHNV parole program, which the Biden administration launched in 2022 and 2023.
In an official notice, DHS stated:
“The Department of Homeland Security (‘DHS’) is terminating the categorical parole programs for inadmissible aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members (hereinafter referred to as ‘CHNV parole programs’). This Federal Register notice is intended to provide context and guidance to the public regarding the termination of the CHNV parole programs and related employment authorization.”
The move follows reports from Breitbart News that the Trump administration had been planning to revoke the legal status of thousands of migrants admitted under Biden-era policies.
A March report from the House Judiciary Committee revealed that the Biden administration had significantly expanded both the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program and the CHNV Parole Program, allowing millions of illegal aliens into the U.S. with what critics call “little to no vetting.”
The revocation of these parole protections marks a significant shift in U.S. immigration policy as the Trump administration moves to tighten enforcement and undo Biden-era immigration measures.
Earlier this week, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala was arrested in New York for allegedly killing his two-month-old daughter. Marlon Rabanales-Pretzantzin, 20, was taken into custody on March 7 and is being held at the Nassau County Jail without bail. Authorities said he admitted to the crime.
Rabanales-Pretzantzin has been charged with second-degree murder after police found Liseyda Rabanales-Barrios dead in a home on Maple Road. The infant had multiple injuries, including broken bones and abrasions. Initially, first responders were told she had fallen off a bed, but investigators later determined she had been brutally attacked.
According to court documents, Rabanales-Pretzantzin repeatedly struck the child, shook her, and threw her. He reportedly admitted to police that he attacked the baby because he didn’t want her. An autopsy revealed older rib fractures, suggesting previous abuse. A one-year-old child was removed from the home for evaluation.
