A 27-year-old woman accused of vandalizing a Tesla service center has been ordered to stay away from all Tesla properties as part of her pre-trial release conditions, a judge ruled.
The court determined there was “clear and convincing evidence” to impose restrictions on Erin L. White, who was arrested on March 14 for allegedly damaging property at the Tesla Sales, Service, and Delivery Center on Dundee Road. She faces charges of felony criminal damage to property and criminal trespass and will need to stay away from all Tesla property.
Tesla properties across the country have become targets for vandalism and protests, partly due to CEO Elon Musk’sinvolvement with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The department has spearheaded massive federal spending cuts, leading to layoffs and concerns about funding for Social Security and public health programs.
Last week, demonstrators in Schaumburg, IL gathered along Golf Road, holding signs that read “Save Democracy”and calling for a Tesla boycott. While some support Musk’s $2 trillion cost-cutting initiative, others argue it jeopardizes critical social programs.
White’s next court appearance has yet to be scheduled.
On March 14, Buffalo Grove police responded to reports of vandalism at the Tesla Sales, Service, and Delivery Centeron Dundee Road at approximately 4:07 p.m.. Upon arrival, officers took Erin L. Tesla properties—including dealerships, charging stations, and service centers—have increasingly become targets of protests and vandalism across the country due to CEO Elon Musk’s involvement with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This federal initiative is aimed at eliminating wasteful government spending and cracking down on fraud, but its aggressive cost-cutting measures have led to mass federal layoffs, fueling backlash from some political activists.
Just days before the Buffalo Grove incident, protesters gathered along Golf Road in Schaumburg, holding signs reading “Save Democracy” and calling for a boycott of Tesla. While Musk’s supporters praise his $2 trillion spending cut plan as a long-overdue effort to rein in Washington’s excesses, critics argue that his influence in government creates conflicts of interest and threatens Social Security and public health programs.
