America Reclaims Sovereignty: Columbia Protest Leader Faces Deportation

America’s immigration system is not a suicide pact, and green card holders have no right to incite violence or celebrate terrorism.

Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University student, has openly expressed hatred for America, calling for the eradication of Western civilization and the destruction of Israel. He was a prominent leader in last year’s anti-Israel demonstrations at Columbia, where he acted as a negotiator between protesters and school officials. While claiming to stand for “justice,” Khalil led rallies glorifying Hamas and the October 7 terror attacks.

Despite his blatant alignment with anti-American extremism, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Democrat Senator Chris Murphy are defending him, arguing that deporting him would violate free speech protections. However, the law is clear: the U.S. has every right to remove noncitizens who pose a threat to national security.

Senator John Kennedy emphasized this point, stating, “Mr. Khalil is not an American citizen. He’s here on a green card. By word and deed at Columbia, he’s shown that he supports Hamas. That’s a violation of the Immigration and Naturalization Act.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson also made it clear that America will no longer tolerate foreign radicals promoting violence under the guise of activism, stating, “If you are on a student visa and you’re in America, and you’re an aspiring young terrorist who wants to prey upon your Jewish classmates, you’re going home.”

Khalil’s defenders argue that there’s “no evidence” he directly supported Hamas. But do they expect a signed check from Hamas with his name on it? Leading demonstrations that celebrate terror attacks is an unmistakable endorsement of terrorism.

America is finally taking sovereignty of its immigration system, enforcing its laws, and standing up for national security.
