Authorities have arrested a trans-identified suspect, Alan “Alina” Abad, 19, of Westwood, New Jersey, in connection with the brutal double homicide of two women in Spring Valley, New York. Abad was taken into custody on February 16 and is currently being held without bail at the Rockland County Jail on first-degree murder charges.
Spring Valley Police Chief Richard Oleszczuk stated that officers discovered the victims on February 15 around 8:30 p.m. while conducting a welfare check at an apartment complex. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed that both victims sustained severe head injuries.
Police indicated that the suspect and victims knew each other, though further details regarding their relationship have not been disclosed. Law enforcement believes the murders were isolated incidents.
Before the gruesome crime, Abad posted multiple videos to TikTok under the username alinaabad4, including footage of himself dancing outside just hours before the murders. On the day of his arrest, Abad uploaded another video showing himself eating pizza with someone he referred to as his “auntie.”
Abad, a biological male who identifies as female, previously attended Westwood Regional High School in New Jersey, according to The Daily Voice.
The names of the victims and their exact causes of death have not yet been released. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murders, including a possible motive and whether additional factors played a role in the violent attack.
