The White House has expressed concern over what it perceives as judicial overreach, following a series of court decisions that have temporarily blocked several of President Donald Trump’s executive actions. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that “the real constitutional crisis is taking place within our judicial branch, where district court judges in liberal districts across the country are abusing their power to unilaterally block President Trump’s basic executive authority.”
Leavitt continued to add that, “These judges are acting as judicial activists rather than honest arbiters of the law. And they have issued at least 12 injunctions against this administration in the past 14 days, often without citing any evidence or grounds for their lawsuits.”
Since the commencement of President Trump’s second term, the administration has faced over 50 lawsuits challenging its initiatives, including efforts to end birthright citizenship and restructure the federal workforce. These legal challenges have resulted in temporary injunctions against several policies.
High-profile supporters of the administration, such as Elon Musk and Vice President J.D. Vance, have also criticized these judicial actions. Musk has called for the impeachment of judges opposing the administration, while Vance has argued that judges should not interfere with the executive branch’s legitimate powers.
The administration plans to seek legal remedies to overturn these rulings and ensure that its policies are enacted. This situation underscores the ongoing tension between the executive and judicial branches regarding the separation of powers and the scope of executive authority.
