President Donald Trump announced that he would reverse the restrictions the Biden administration placed on incandescent light bulbs and water pressure.
“I am hereby instructing Secretary Lee Zeldin to immediately go back to my Environmental Orders, which were terminated by Crooked Joe Biden, on Water Standards and Flow pertaining to SINKS, SHOWERS, TOILETS, WASHING MACHINES, DISHWASHERS, etc., and to likewise go back to the common sense standards on light bulbs, that were put in place by the Trump Administration, but terminated by Crooked Joe,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I look forward to signing these Orders. THANK YOU!!!”
In 2022, the Biden administration adopted two rules for light bulbs. “The first rule establishes a revised definition of general service lamps while the second implements the minimum standard of 45 lumens per watt for light bulbs that meet the revised definition,” the Biden Department of Energy said at the time.
In July 2023, the Biden administration proposed energy efficiency standards. The proposal required electric water heaters to use heat pump technology and gas-powered water heaters to use condensing technology.
The push to reduce incandescent light bulbs began in 2007.
Trump criticized anti-incandescent light bulb efforts in 2019, saying, “The light bulb they got rid of, the light bulb that people got used to, the new bulb is many times more expensive.”
Discussing water pressure during his first presidential term, Trump said, “You go into a new building or a new house or a new home and they have standards only you don’t get water. You can’t wash your hands practically, there’s so little water comes out of the faucet. And the end result is you leave the faucet on and it takes you much longer to wash your hands.”
