The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an investigation into KCBS 740 AM, a San Francisco-based radio station backed by left-wing billionaire George Soros. The station is under scrutiny for broadcasting live locations of undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting deportation operations in San Jose.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump appointee, launched the probe over public safety and possible broadcasting violations. The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau sent a Letter of Inquiry, questioning if the station violated its “public interest” obligation. The incident in question involved ICE operations in an area known for violent gang activity.
Carr emphasized the importance of protecting law enforcement personnel, stating, “I want to express my thanks and appreciation to DHS and ICE agents. These law enforcement professionals are honorably serving this country and carrying out vital missions. Their safety is paramount. The FCC will hold broadcasters accountable for complying with their public interest obligations.”
Audacy owns the station, with a Soros-backed group gaining influence over 200+ radio stations last year. Audacy has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the ongoing FCC probe.
The January 26 edition of “KCBS Radio Weekend News” provided real-time details on ICE agents’ movements, potentially endangering their safety. The exposure of law enforcement activities has raised serious concerns among conservative lawmakers and law enforcement officials.
The FCC’s investigation could lead to penalties, including fines or the potential revocation of KCBS 740 AM’s broadcasting license if it is found to have violated federal regulations. The case underscores growing concerns over media bias and the influence of left-wing billionaires in shaping public discourse.
