Singer Joy Villa defended President Donald Trump’s immigration policies while walking the red carpet at the 2025 Grammy Awards at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Villa, 38, voiced her support for the recent deportations ordered by Trump, which have sparked widespread protests across the country.
“I think that the ones that are being deported should be deported,” Villa told The Hollywood Reporter. “I love to see rapists, human traffickers deported. I don’t want to see them here.” She emphasized that her stance aligns with a belief in law and order, national security, and protecting American citizens from criminal activity.
Villa also addressed her personal connection to the immigration debate, stating, “I’m a Latina. My family came to this country legally … I want us to be free, for all colors, for all people. That’s what makes America great again. So we can create, so we can live.” She added that she wants to feel safe walking at night without fear of crime committed by illegal immigrants.
Villa made a statement with her red carpet attire, wearing a striking gold gown adorned with spherical designs, large cross earrings, and a red hat featuring the phrase “THE HAT STAYS ON.” The hat resembled Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” cap. She refused to remove it, referencing last summer’s failed assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. “The hat stays on—they tried to kill Trump, but he’s still alive, thank God,” Villa said.
The singer highlighted the growing diversity of Trump’s support base, particularly after his recent victory over Democratic challenger Kamala Harris in November. “There’s a lot of Latinos, a lot of Black Americans, a lot of artists who love Trump,” she said. “We’re not going to get our hats knocked off, hit off, or threatened to take it off.”
Villa, known for using fashion to express her conservative beliefs, said her goal was “to make America glamorous again,” a twist on Trump’s campaign slogan.
