Space Heaters Sold on Amazon Recalled Over Risk of Electric Shock

Nearly 8,000 Vornado VH2 Whole Room Heaters have been recalled in the United States due to electric shock and fire hazards, according to a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Jan. 16.

The power cord of the affected heaters can partially detach from the enclosure, which may lead to cord damage over time and increase the risk of electric shock or fire. Thankfully, no injuries or incidents have been reported so far.

The recall applies to off-white Vornado VH2 Whole Room Heaters with thermostatic temperature controls, automatic or continuous fan operation, and two heat settings. These units bear a silver rating label on the bottom with “TYPE VH2” and either a “JUL24” or “AUG24” date code. The front of the heater displays the “Vornado” brand name, featuring a red “V” logo.

The heaters were sold exclusively on Amazon between August 2024 and October 2024 for approximately $90. They were manufactured by Vornado Air LLC, based in Andover, Kansas.
