President-elect Donald Trump arrived at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., early Monday morning for a prayer service ahead of his inauguration, signaling a solemn and traditional start to his second term. Accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, the president-elect was greeted warmly as he entered the historic “Church of the Presidents.”
Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife, Usha, were expected to join the Trumps, along with several of Trump’s children and grandchildren, for the service. Video footage captured Trump and the First Lady holding hands as they stepped out of their SUV and approached the church, where they were greeted by the minister.
Following the service, the Trumps planned to meet outgoing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House for a customary tea reception, marking a peaceful transition of power.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, established in 1815 and located near the White House, has long been a staple in presidential history, hosting every president since James Madison. Known for its nickname, “The Church of the Presidents,” it has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
During a packed “Make America Great Again” rally the evening before at Capitol One Arena, Trump energized his supporters, promising a new era of American strength. “Tomorrow, at noon, the curtain closes on four long years of American decline, and we begin a brand-new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride, bringing it all back,” he told the enthusiastic crowd.
As Trump prepares to retake the reins, he continues to emphasize his commitment to restoring the nation’s values, prosperity, and global standing—a message that resonates deeply with his base and marks the start of a new chapter in American leadership.
