Actor Adam Carolla Says California Politics May Shift Following Deadly Wildfires

Adam Carolla, comedian and podcast host, is among the many Californians displaced by the devastating wildfires sweeping the state. From his temporary hotel room, Carolla shared his thoughts on how the fires could have broader political implications for California.

In his broadcast, Carolla pointed out that the areas most impacted by the fires are predominantly left-leaning, but he predicts that the challenges residents will face during the rebuilding process could shift their political views. He argued that navigating California’s complex regulations, bureaucratic hurdles, and high taxes—especially during a time of crisis—could prompt many to reconsider their political alignment.

Carolla described this potential shift as a “red-pilling” moment, suggesting that the harsh realities of rebuilding in a state with significant government intervention might lead some residents to adopt more conservative perspectives.

“You guys all voted for Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles. You all voted for Gavin Newsom, and now you fucking get what you get. now that your house is on fire,” Carolla said.

“So here’s what’s going to happen. All these people who are deep blue Democrats are now going to have to pull a permit to rebuild, and they’re going to get the 28 year old bitch from the Coastal Commission telling them to go fuck off and then they’re going to vote for Trump or whoever’s Trumpian next.”

“When they start getting the regulation, they’re going to go nuts. And when they start running into the bureaucracy and the red tape, they’re going to start going nuts and they’re going to vote for Rick Caruso next time,” he continued.

The fires have highlighted longstanding concerns about California’s governance, including wildfire prevention, forest management, and the state’s ability to address natural disasters efficiently. Carolla’s remarks tap into a broader debate about whether such crises could influence political trends in the state, which has long been a Democratic stronghold.
