Vice President-elect JD Vance has solidified his position as the overwhelming favorite for the Republican Party’s 2028 presidential nomination, according to a recent straw poll conducted at the highly influential AmericaFest event.
The poll, which explored potential leadership beyond President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming second term, revealed strong support for Vance. An impressive 58% of attendees expressed their desire to see him as the GOP nominee in 2028, far outpacing other potential contenders.
Donald Trump Jr. came in a distant second, garnering 17% of the vote, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis secured 6%. Notably, 11% of respondents remain undecided, signaling room for further shifts in conservative preferences.
These results, released shortly after AmericaFest concluded on December 22, 2024, underscore Vance’s growing prominence within the Republican base. A steadfast supporter of President Trump’s policies, Vance has consistently demonstrated his commitment to America First principles, standing firm against the left’s attacks on conservative values.
Vance’s support for key Cabinet picks, such as Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, further cements his alignment with the movement’s priorities. Hegseth, a vocal advocate for national security and veterans’ issues, has faced relentless opposition from Democrats and entrenched establishment figures, highlighting the ongoing battle to protect conservative leadership in Washington.
As the Republican Party looks toward the future, Vance’s widespread support reflects the confidence many conservatives have in his ability to carry the torch of President Trump’s legacy while forging a bold path forward for America.
Earlier this month, Vance reinforced President-elect Donald Trump’s position on avoiding involvement in Syria, declaring that the ongoing conflict is “not our fight.” In a post on X, Vance echoed Trump’s remarks, emphasizing the need for the United States to focus on its own priorities and avoid entanglement in Syria.
The statements follow reports of the collapse of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Opposition forces have reportedly taken control of major cities and are advancing toward Damascus. Trump commented on Truth Social, describing the situation in Syria as “a mess” and reiterating that the U.S. should steer clear.
Trump pointed to the downfall of Assad’s regime as a culmination of long-standing issues. He noted that Russia, a key ally of Assad, is unable to provide support due to significant losses in Ukraine, including an estimated 600,000 soldiers. Trump also recalled former President Obama’s failure to enforce his “red line” policy in Syria, leading to increased Russian involvement.
