Crews Respond to Fire in Parking Garage at Trump Tower Chicago

A fire broke out inside the parking garage at Trump Tower in downtown Chicago around midday on Tuesday.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, the fire was confined to a single car and was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.

At about 11:30 a.m. crews blocked off surrounding roads to respond to the fire.

At about 12:50 p.m. roads reopened in the area.

Chicago firefighters said the fire was under control.

In April 2023, Chicago police responded to a domestic-related incident after a woman entered the Trump International Hotel and Tower with a rifle, The Daily Mail reports.

The incident occurred just one day after former President Donald Trump was arraigned on charges in New York, although police have not indicated if there is any connection between the two events.

Police received reports of a woman “brandishing a rifle” in the downtown skyscraper.

The incident was not immediately linked to any terroristic threat and police have since stated that there is “no threat to the public” and the incident appears to be “isolated.”

Some reports suggest that the woman had stated that she was “tired of being abused by her husband.”

Due to the incident, which occurred at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, Wabash Avenue was closed in both directions between Wacker Drive and Hubbard Street, resulting in traffic delays.

A witness who was inside the building during the incident recounted the chaotic scene, revealing that he was promptly guided away from the lobby and instructed not to return until the situation had been resolved.
