Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) has called for immediate federal action to address a surge in unexplained drone activity in the Philadelphia suburbs. In a letter sent to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Fitzpatrick urged transparency and swift measures to ensure the safety and security of residents.
Fitzpatrick’s concerns follow weeks of reported drone sightings across parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the northeastern United States. The Pentagon has stated that the drones are not under U.S. military control and are not believed to be linked to foreign entities, but no definitive answers have been provided regarding their origin.
In a statement on social media, Fitzpatrick reaffirmed his commitment to uncovering the truth behind the incidents. “The safety and security of our community, our neighbors, and our nation depend on transparency and accountability from our federal agencies who have a responsibility to keep us safe,” he said.
Other lawmakers in the region, including Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and state Senator Jon Bramnick (R-NJ), have echoed the call for investigations. Van Drew recently raised concerns about potential foreign involvement, suggesting an Iranian “mothership” could be deploying the drones. However, the Pentagon has denied these claims, with spokesperson Sabrina Singh stating, “There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones.”
Despite federal assurances, local officials and residents remain concerned. Lawmakers have called for greater transparency and immediate measures to identify and mitigate the threat posed by the unexplained drone activity. The FAA and DHS are reportedly coordinating efforts to address the situation, but details remain scarce.
