Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather found himself at the center of controversy during a recent visit to London, where an alleged antisemitic mob confronted him over his public support for Israel. Videos circulating on social media show Mayweather and his entourage being surrounded and jeered by an increasingly hostile crowd while shopping in Hatton Garden, a well-known jewelry district.
According to reports, the confrontation began when someone questioned Mayweather’s vocal support for Israel. An eyewitness told The Sun that Mayweather stood firm, reaffirming his stance. The situation escalated when a member of the crowd reportedly attempted to strike the boxing icon. “Floyd took a few hits during it, but his security was trying to push people back,” the eyewitness recounted.
The footage depicts a chaotic scene, with Mayweather’s security team working to shield him and guide him to his vehicle. Expletives and hostile chants were directed at Mayweather and his entourage as they hurriedly left the area.
Despite these claims, Mayweather took to Instagram to dispute the allegations. “Let me set the record straight…there’s no truth to the rumors going around. I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is just my security doing their job to keep things under control,” he stated. Mayweather dismissed the incident as fueled by “jealousy and negativity,” emphasizing that he was in the UK for a brief shopping trip and was “perfectly fine.”
While Mayweather denies being physically struck, he has not backpedaled on his support for Israel. Known for his outspoken nature and unwavering confidence, his denial of being hit seems fitting for a man who has built his career on being untouchable in and out of the ring.
