Kari Lake Tapped for Trump Admin

President-elect Donald Trump announced that former Arizona Republican Senate nominee Kari Lake will direct the “Voice of America” (VOA) news agency.

“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media.”

“Kari was a beloved News Anchor in Arizona, which supported me by record margins, for over 20 years,” he added.

Lake said that under her leadership, VOA will “excel in its mission: chronicling America’s achievements worldwide.”

“Thank you for putting your trust in me, President Trump. I look forward to leading the Voice of America, and I can’t wait to get started.”

VOA is a “dynamic international multimedia broadcaster with service in nearly 50 language,” according to its website. “Serving an estimated weekly global audience of more than 354 million people, VOA provides news, information, and cultural programming through the Internet, mobile and social media, radio, and television. VOA is funded by the U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for Global Media.”

Trump’s announcement of Lake comes as she lost her Senate race against Democrat Ruben Gallego. She previously ran for governor during the 2022 midterms and lost to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D).
