Disney theme park influencer Dominique Brown tragically passed away after suffering a “medical emergency” at a holiday event hosted by pop-culture retail company BoxLunch in Los Angeles last week. She was 34 years old.
According to PEOPLE, Brown experienced a severe allergic reaction after consuming food that she had been assured was safe. Despite informing staff about her food allergies, the dish reportedly contained the allergen that triggered her reaction. Witnesses stated that Brown received CPR at the event while 911 was called immediately.
“We are devastated by the passing of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch Collective, who suffered a medical emergency at an event hosted by BoxLunch on Thursday in Los Angeles,” BoxLunch wrote in a statement to the outlet.
“Our hearts go out to her family and friends, and we will do everything we can to support them and the members of the BoxLunch Collective and our team during this painful time.”
Her brother, Patrick Ramos, confirmed the devastating news on her final Instagram post, where she was seen in a Winnie the Pooh-themed outfit at a Disney store. Brown, a Long Beach resident, was known for co-creating BlackGirlDisneyalongside her friend Mia Von. The initiative aimed to connect and celebrate women of color who share a passion for Disney parks and culture.
Following her death, a petition has emerged on Change.org advocating for stricter food allergy measures in California to prevent similar tragedies.
Brown’s passing has left a profound impact on her community and fans, with tributes pouring in for her vibrant spirit and dedication to
“inclusivity” within the Disney fandom.
