A Dallas author has penned a compelling book highlighting Black Americans who proudly identify with the Republican Party.
Titled “Being Black and Republican in the Age of Trump,” the book seeks to shed light on the often-overlooked voices of Black conservatives and their alignment with the principles of opportunity, freedom, and personal responsibility championed by the GOP.
Author Watson explains her motivation: “I want people to understand that the Republican Party is the party of opportunity for all.”
“We’re talking about 9% of Black women and 19% of Black men. That’s huge,” she said.
Released in October, just ahead of a pivotal election that saw Republicans secure the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress, the book captures a moment of growing momentum for conservative values among Black voters.
“People think or assume that Black Republicans don’t like the Black community, and that is so not true. They think that Black Republicans are not proud of being Black. That is so not true,” Watson said. “It’s just the opposite. Black people who are also Republicans are just independent thinkers and say, ‘We have the right, as does everyone else, to choose what is best for us.’”
It features a collection of voices from across the nation, all of whom are active in promoting the Republican vision for a stronger and more unified America.
