Some leftists appear to have devised a plan to sabotage what is widely anticipated to be a strong economic recovery under President-elect Donald Trump: they’re planning not to spend money.
Still stunned by Trump’s historic victory, which included sweeping all seven swing states, securing 312 electoral votes, and even winning the popular vote after making significant gains in traditionally blue areas, some leftists are resorting to unconventional means of protest.
Rather than acknowledging the sizable shift in the electorate and the clear mandate for change, they are doubling down on their resistance.
Some progressives are cynically claiming that Trump is being handed another strong economy to “tank,” referencing his business ventures, while ignoring the economic struggles under President Joe Biden.
“Trump will not have a good economy because we don’t have to let him. I myself plan on paying my bills and saving every penny beyond that. I will not contribute to this economy in any other way,” one leftist said, claiming they would purchase clothing “before he takes office and make sure I have everything I need for the next four years.”
Throughout Biden’s term, Americans endured rampant inflation and record-high gas prices, burdening working families. Just last month, inflation continued to surge, with prices rising at the fastest monthly rate since April, according to Breitbart News.
As Trump prepares to implement his bold economic vision, it seems some on the left are more focused on rooting for failure than on giving the country a chance to succeed. While their protest strategy may make headlines, it is unlikely to overshadow the optimism and determination of those ready to see the country thrive once again.
