Minnesota Election Judge Arrested For Allowing Unregistered Voters to Cast Ballots

Timothy Michael Scouton, 64, a head election judge in Badoura Township, Minnesota, has been arrested and charged with two felony counts for allegedly allowing 11 unregistered voters to cast ballots in the 2024 election.

Scouton, who served in a rural precinct near Park Rapids, is accused of bypassing voter registration protocols, according to a criminal complaint filed on Friday.

Hubbard County Auditor Kay Rave discovered discrepancies in the election materials submitted by Scouton, prompting an investigation. Authorities say that while Scouton underwent standard election judge training, he allegedly instructed election workers to ignore registration requirements.

The investigation revealed that the required voter registration documentation for 11 individuals who cast ballots was missing.

When questioned, Scouton admitted that he and other election judges did not use the necessary forms to verify voter identities.

Rave alerted law enforcement on November 7, and police confirmed the irregularities by November 13.

Scouton was arrested at the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office after declining to provide a statement. If convicted, Scouton could face significant penalties for violating Minnesota election laws.
