Sources indicate that Sean Curran, a long-time confidant of President-elect Donald Trump and former head of his campaign detail, is a top contender for Secret Service director.
Known for his advocacy to bolster security for Trump—particularly at Mar-a-Lago and during campaign events—Curran consistently pushed for additional resources.
However, his requests were reportedly denied by Secret Service leadership until a recent assassination attempt underscored the need for heightened security.
Other potential candidates include Dan Bongino, a conservative commentator and former Secret Service agent with 11 years of service. Bongino, who is vocal about security lapses and agency reforms, shares a close relationship with Curran, whom he worked with in Moscow.
Additionally, Tom Armas, a U.S. Marine general and former Secret Service agent, is being considered. Armas has an extensive background, having served with Bongino in the New York Field Office before transitioning to the Marine Corps for the remainder of his career.
