Republicans have raised concerns over what they view as a calculated attempt by Democrats to mislead voters after pop star Beyoncé did not appear at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, as widely speculated.
Rumors had circulated that Beyoncé would deliver a surprise performance at the DNC just before Vice President Kamala Harris formally accepted the party’s nomination on Thursday night.
However, when the final night of the convention concluded without the anticipated appearance, some conservatives suggested that Democrats had employed a deceptive marketing tactic aimed at boosting viewership for Harris’s prime-time speech.
While no concrete evidence supports the theory that Harris’s allies intentionally misled the public about the supposed performance, the speculation gained traction among Republicans. Several voiced their frustrations on social media.
“Kamala Harris is so bad at this her own party had to lie and tell attendees Beyonce was coming so people wouldn’t bail before Harris’s speech and leave a bunch of empty seats for the cameras,” Sean Davis, conservative CEO and co-founder of the Federalist, said.
CJ Pearson, a political activist and leader of the Republican National Committee’s Youth Advisory Council, criticized the vice president, accusing her of becoming “far too comfortable lying.”
