The majority of Democratic state chairs have endorsed Kamala Harris as presidential candidate.
Ken Martin, president of the Association of State Democratic Committees, said in a statement, “I am proud that state party chairs, vice-chairs, and executive directors across the country are overwhelmingly uniting behind Vice President Kamala Harris. These state party leaders are on the front lines of winning elections at every level and know that the stakes of this election could not be higher.”
He asserted that there is “no one more qualified than Vice President Harris to prosecute the case against Donald Trump.”
According to a press release, only a “handful” of members abstained from voting in support of Harris for “in-state procedural reasons.”
Prior to President Joe Biden exiting the race, the Democratic Party chairs of seven states reportedly issued a letter in support of Biden.
“Democrats at all levels are running on a unified message of freedom, democracy, and an economy that works for working people. When the choice is clear, our candidates and our message beat, hands down, Trump, Vance, and the MAGA threat of abortion bans, dictatorship, and giveaways to billionaires. But right now, many voters aren’t hearing that from our party,” the letter read.
“We understand the anxiety. But the best antidote to political anxiety is taking action. You can’t wring your hands when you’re rolling up your sleeves. When we all lend our voices to contrasting the Democratic vision—from Biden-Harris straight down the ticket—with the MAGA nightmare, we win.”
“We’re fired up to organize for the Biden-Harris ticket because we believe in the future that they’re working every day to bring about. We invite everyone who refuses to accept a MAGA future to join us, to roll up your sleeves, and to get out there,” the letter added.
The letter was signed by the Democratic Party chairs in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
