Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk reportedly plans to donate nearly $45 million every month to a new pro-Trump Super PAC.
The new PAC is also allegedly backed by Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe Craft, who is chief executive of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners, and the Winklevoss twins.
“The coalition assessed that the Democrats have historically had very robust “get out the vote” campaigns and took note of the amounts of money that the Biden administration has dedicated to so-called “on the ground” efforts in swing states. America PAC will try to counter that,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
A filing released Monday showed the PAC had already raised over $8 million.
Musk officially endorsed the former president on social media following the attempted assassination last weekend, saying he hoped for a “rapid recovery.”
Musk’s support of Trump comes amidst his ever-growing right-leaning tendencies. Since buying X, formerly Twitter, Musk has advocated for free speech and spoken out against the online censorship many conservatives have historically faced.
Historically, Musk has voted for Democrats, including Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020.
Musk’s move across the political aisle is expected to benefit Trump, as his online following amounts to nearly 190 million followers.
