Biden Campaign Suspends Trump Attack Ads Following Assassination Attempt

President Joe Biden’s campaign has suspended their ads attacking former president Donald Trump in light of the attempted assassination Saturday.

According to a campaign official, the campaign has paused all “outbound communications.”

“We understand that there are a lot of questions, and as we gather answers to those questions, we ask that all staff refrain from issuing any comments on social media or in public,” wrote campaign co-chair Jennifer O’Malley Dillon and campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez.

“We’re also asking everyone to pause any proactive campaign communication across all platforms and in all circumstances until we know more.”

The Biden campaign had launched a series of attacks, specifically about “Project 2025,” aimed at the former president.

“Folks, Project 2025 is the biggest attack on our system of government and our personal freedom that has ever been proposed in the history of this country,” Biden said during a rally Friday in Detroit, Michigan. “It’s a blueprint for the second Trump term that every American should read and understand.”

Biden said following the attempted assassination that there was “no place” for such violence in the country, despite attacking the former president on numerous occasions.

“There is no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence, for that matter,” Biden said. “I’ve directed the head of the Secret Service to review all security measures for all security measures for the Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to start tomorrow.”
