A British-Montengrin soccer player has died suddenly at the age of only 26.
Matija Sarkic, a goalkeeper who played for Millwall and the Montenegro national team, reportedly collapsed and died in his apartment in Budva.
“Sarkic, The Lionsā number one goalkeeper, made 33 appearances for the club since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023,” Millwall FC saidĀ in a statement confirming the news.
“Everyone at the club sends their love and condolences to Matijaās family and friends at this immensely sad time,” it continued. “The club will make no further comment at this time and asks that the privacy of Matijaās family is respected.”
Earlier this month, Larry Allen, hall of fame offensive linemen in the NFL died suddenly at the age of 52.
According to the Dallas Cowboys organization, Allen passed away while on vacation with his family in Mexico.
