Dr. Anthony Fauci’s top advisor, Dr. David Morens, sent several emails from his personal account to zoologist Peter Daszak, subverting COVID-19 transparency laws.
The information was revealed by Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH).
“During his transcribed interview with the Select Subcommittee in January, Dr. Morens denied deleting any federal COVID-19 origins records. This claim raised serious concerns as it was partially inconsistent with emails previously released by the Select Subcommittee in which Dr. Morens stated ‘I always try to communicate over gmail because my NIH email is FOIA’d constantly’ and ‘I will delete anything I don’t want to see in the New York Times,'” a committee press release states.
“The Select Subcommittee is now in possession of new, alleged communication between Dr. Morens’s personal Gmail account, EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak, and Boston University Professor Dr. Gerald Keusch regarding COVID-19. These emails raise serious concerns about federal health officials potentially covering up the pandemic’s origin,” it continues.
“Please read and acknowledge receipt — Actions needed regarding 2R01AI110964-06,” the subject line of one 2020 email reads, referring to a federal project titled, “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.”
Another email discusses an individual who was “unable to talk with me anymore about our suspended [grant].”
Representative Wenstrup sent a letter to Dr. Gerald Keusch, the Associate Director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory Institute at Boston University and a recipient of Morens’ emails, requesting any further documents and communication related to COVID-19 origins.
“The Select Subcommittee is now aware of potential further attempts by Dr. Morens to subvert public transparency,” the letter states.
The letter comes as Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) announced that a recent investigation into what he calls the “Great COVID Cover-Up” found that “government officials from 15 federal agencies knew in 2018 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was trying to create a coronavirus like COVID-19.”
The project, called DEFUSE, sought to “insert a furin cleavage site into a coronavirus to create a novel chimeric virus that would have been shockingly similar to the COVID-19 virus.”
A chimera virus contains genetic material from two or more viruses.
“Disturbingly, not one of these 15 agencies spoke up to warn us that the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been pitching this research. Not one of these agencies warned anyone that this Chinese lab had already put together plans to create such a virus,” the senator wrote.
