Moderna Developing More mRNA Vaccines

Moderna recently announced that it is developing more mRNA vaccines targeting Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), Varicella-zoster virus (VZV), and Norovirus.

As it announced its vaccine developments during its Vaccines Day Event, shares of Moderna mRNA rose 3%, according to Yahoo Finance.

“Management believes that the company’s vaccine portfolio targets large addressable markets with an estimated total addressable market (TAM) of around $52 billion for infectious disease vaccines,” the outlet reported.

Scientists have expressed alarm over the development of mRNA vaccines.

“One of the mechanisms involves microRNAs that suppress the production of cellular interferon, which is extremely important for attack against viral infections as well as tumor suppression,” Chief Scientific Officer at Children’s Health Defense Brian Hooker, Ph.D., told The Defender.

Blackstone Life Sciences also announced that it is collaborating with Moderna to support its mRNA programs, providing up to $750 million for the endeavor.

“Moderna has demonstrated a remarkable ability to impact human health through mRNA vaccines targeting respiratory illnesses. This landmark collaboration is another example of our long-standing strategy to partner with the world’s leading life science companies to advance their critical path vaccines, medicines and medical technologies to patients,” Nicholas Galakatos, Ph.D., Global Head of Blackstone Life Sciences, said in a press release.

Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna, stated that Moderna’s goal is to “launch multiple vaccine products in the next few years and deliver the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines.”

“Achieving this ambition requires substantial investment in late-stage studies and we are excited to welcome Blackstone and their innovative financing model,” Bancel said.

Earlier this year, German scientists called for the end of mRNA vaccines, writing in a letter to the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) that the “problems with modRNA-based vaccines are becoming increasingly apparent.”

Similarly, a review in the journal Biomedicines detailed that the mRNA in COVID-19 vaccines is pathogenic.

As “unprecedented high rates of adverse events” have eclipsed the idea of “safe and effective” vaccines, a group of scientists sought to “provide a thorough overview of harms arising from the new technology in vaccines that relied on human cells producing a foreign antigen that has evidence of pathogenicity,” the study reads.

Upon analyzing literature providing evidence for the toxicity of the spike protein, the researchers determined that it is critical to “evaluate the potential for any new autoimmune phenomena driven by foreign antigen production caused by any new mRNA or DNA-based technology in the future.”
