Arizona inmate and a former FBI informant has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing ex Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
52-year-old John Turscak is facing multiple assault charges and inflicting serious bodily injury with an “improvised knife” against Chauvin.
Turscak allegedly told investigators he picked Black Friday to assault the former cop to symbolize the “Black Lives Matter” movement and claimed to have targeted Chauvin solely because he is a high-profile inmate.
The inmate reportedly told guards he would have killed Chauvin if workers hadn’t reached him so quickly and doused him with pepper spray.
Prosecutors said Turscak was an FBI informant in 1997, providing recordings between him and different members.
Turscak was allegedly dropped as an informant for dealing drugs and extorting money.
From Fox News:
Turscak could see 60 years added to his federal sentence if he gets the maximum punishment on all of the charges he faces. He was due for release in 2026, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
