Trump Pleads Not Guilty to Three Additional Charges

Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to three additional charges brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith.

The charges related to the Mar-a-Lago documents case.

Trump’s lawyer entered the plea alongside Trump’s former aid Walt Nauta and Mar-a-Lago maintenance worker Carlos De Oliveira.

Trump and Nautia were indicted in June with de Oliveira added as a co-defendant last month, the charges including “making false statements, conspiracy to obstruct justice and corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing documents.”

Due to the classified nature of the material, Trump’s legal team requested the recreation of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).

They called for the facility due to the “immense practical and logistical hurdles and costs that make it virtually impossible for President Trump to make regular trips to a public facility to discuss classified discovery material.”

Reporting from The National Pulse:

Prosecutors are virulently opposed to such a step, claiming that Mar-a-Lago is not included “in lawful locations for the discussion of classified information, any more than they would be for any private citizen.”
