A recent revelation from The Times of London indicates that Ukrainian special forces have adopted a new strategy involving U.S.-supplied Black Hawk helicopters.
Despite previous warnings from the U.S. against the use of their equipment for missions inside Russian borders, Ukrainian teams appear to be executing cross-border operations.
According to the report, the elite Shaman Battalion has been recognized for their efforts in conducting raids on enemy infrastructure for over a span of 12 months.
The Times cites an insider account: “The men of the elite Shaman Battalion have been carrying out […] raids on infrastructure behind enemy lines for more than a year.”
In a surprising turn of events, The Times was informed of an additional mission objective: “assassinating senior Russian officers.”
This latest piece of information challenges the initial agreement made at the outset of the war, where the U.S. explicitly instructed Ukraine not to use American-supplied equipment for assaults inside Russian territory.
The primary objective behind this directive was to ensure that the U.S. was not inadvertently pulled into the conflict, thereby escalating the situation to a global confrontation.
While the usage of Black Hawks for these missions is alarming, it’s also speculated that Ukraine is potentially leveraging intelligence provided by the U.S. to enhance its operations.
The Times reports on Ukraine’s continued incursions into Russian grounds, indicating that despite the earlier agreement, the U.S. might be less stringent about its enforcement.
