Residents of Husby, located just outside of Stockholm, are creating a group of citizens to fight against crime and drug addiction among their homeless population.
The move follows a dwindling police presence in the area.
Nearly 90% of the population of Husby are migrants.
Many of the homeless suffering from drug addiction are illegal immigrants that have moved to the area.
Burglaries and robberies have now increased as a means of funding addictions.
One 18-year-old resident told a Swedish newspaper, “We have made several reports to the police, but it feels like we have not been taken seriously, because there has been no change.”
“So we decided to find these addicts and try to have a dialogue with them,” he continued.
After one of the migrants “attacked” the group of citizens, “we fought back,” the teen explained.
Reporting from The National Pulse:
Sweden has been notorious for its inability to integrate its large migrant population. Instead, the government has chosen to ignore or denounce people who highlight the issue, such as professors from Lund University facing prosecution for a study that found that immigrants are “disproportionately overrepresented” in rape cases.
