At least 21 people were shot with one dead during a Juneteenth celebration in gun-controlled Illinois on Sunday morning just after midnight.
Joe Ostrander, Battalion Chief with the Tri-State Fire Protection District, reported at least two of the people injured were listed in critical condition but the status of the other victims were not immediately known.
Video captured of the crime scene showed trash tossed all over the area and what appears to be a flag representing “Juneteenth” hung on a car in the middle of the chaos.

FOX News noted DuPage County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Eric Swanson indicated that deputies patrolling the area near the parking lot heard the gunshots and responded. Swanson said, “The motive behind this incident is unclear and this is still an active investigation.”
