Almost 3 in 10 Children Who Received Pfizer COVID Vax Suffered Heart Effects

Results were found in a study from Thailand.

QUICK FACTS:
  • A recent study found that 29% of children experienced negative heart effects after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The study took place in Thailand where researchers studied over 300 students aged 13-18 across two schools.
  • The vast majority had no underlying issues before receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, however, after they took taking the vaccine, researchers found the children went on to suffer from a number of issues, from chest pain to valve prolapse.
  • Two of the children were hospitalized and one was put in intensive care during the observation period.
  • Of the children, 54 had abnormal electrocardiogram results, 6 experienced mitral valve prolapse, 6 had high blood pressure, and 7 were diagnosed with heart inflammation.
  • Even more experienced heart palpitations, chest pain, and shortness of breath, and while researchers said most saw symptoms abate in 2 weeks, they said that students receiving mRNA vaccines “should be monitored for side effects.”
REACTION TO THE STUDY RESULTS:
  • After reading the new study, several cardiologists concluded that it adds to the body of evidence suggesting that, particularly for young people, the risks of vaccines may outweigh the benefits.
  • However, Dr. Anish Koka, a cardiologist in Philadelphia, said that the study results are “not reassuring,” and that the Thai study “helps fill in some of the data void so parents and their doctors can be better informed when discussing the risks and benefits of the vaccines.”
  • Dr. Peter McCullough, the chief medical adviser for the Truth for Health Foundation, said in an email to reporters, “Any form of heart damage in young persons is concerning since the long-term risks of heart failure and sudden death with exercise are unknown.” The doctor added that “this is one of ~200 published papers demonstrating the risks of COVID-19 vaccination far outweigh any theoretical benefit.”
BACKGROUND:
  • The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been linked to heart inflammation, according to U.S. authorities.
  • American officials continue to insist that for all age groups older than six months, the vaccines’ advantages outweigh their risks.
  • Myocarditis rates after a second Pfizer dose were higher than the background rate in males and females aged 5 to 49 and 12 to 29, according to reports to the U.S. Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) through May 26.
  • Within seven days of the second dose, the rate among males aged 16 to 17 was 76 per million.
  • Only 1% of vaccine adverse reactions are reported to VAERS, according to a report commissioned by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
