Jeb Bush’s son made it to a runoff election for Texas attorney general before his luck ran out.

ELECTION DETAILS:
- Bush received about 32% of votes from Republicans, giving Paxton 68% support, likely owing the win to Paxton’s hard-line stance on illegal immigration and monopoly businesses.
- While there was some support spread out around the state, the only counties where Bush won over Paxton were either far left, or had a curiously low number of votes.
- Bush won in Loving County, where there were less than 10 residents that voted in Tuesday’s runoff election; Sterling County, where about 50 residents voted; Kenedy County, where about 6 residents voted; and Starr County, where about 200 residents voted.
- Lastly, Bush took Travis County, home of Austin, Texas, which is sometimes referred to by native Texans as “East California,” due to its aggressively liberal politics.
BACKGROUND:
- Bush’s loss comes about six years after his dad, Jeb Bush, suspended his presidential campaign less than a year after launching following losses in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.
- Some believe that the Bush name could be doing more harm than good, partially due to recently published information about how longtime political families such as the Bushes and Bidens have ties to the Chinese Communist Party through business deals promoting trade with the United States.
