Border patrol agents made three separate busts resulting in more than half a million dollars worth of cocaine seizures in the course of one week.

- United States Customs and Border Protection officers circumvented an seized $587,000 worth of cocaine in one week in Texas.
- According to The Epoch Times, the drugs were intercepted in three separate drug busts at Texas’ Brownsvilles Port of entry.
- Port director Tater Ortiz at the Brownsville Port of Entry said that their officers consider it to be a major part of their job to keep narcotics from reaching communities across the nation.
DETAILS OF THE MARCH DRUG BUSTS:
- The seizure took place on March 17 when a 25-year-old Texas resident was attempting to enter the United States when 10 packages of Cocaine weighing about 26 pounds were found in his vehicle.
- The second large seizure was two days later at the Gateway International Bridge, as a 22-year-old Brownsville woman attempted to enter the country with around 27 pounds of cocaine in multiple packages.
- The third seizure was on March 22 again at the Gateway International Bridge when a 23-year-old U.S. citizen who resides in Matamoros, Mexico applied for entry into the United States and was found to be carrying a total of 22.61 pounds of suspected drugs.
BACKGROUND:
- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott initiated Operation Lone Star in March of 2021 in response to the rise in illegal immigration as part of the Texas Indigent Defense Commission.
- According to The National Review, even the specialized National Guard troops being stationed along the Texas border are struggling to enforce the nation’s border.
