George Soros has already provided $80 million for censorship efforts ahead of the 2024 presidential election, according to a report by Newsbusters.
Free Press, a media group funded by Soros but not to be confused with the outlet The Free Press, boasted of their operations in a press release titled “More Than 200 Groups Urge Leading Tech Platforms to Implement Election-Integrity Policies to Protect Democracy Worldwide.”
“The tech industry’s refusal to safeguard their platforms is already having a dangerous impact on democracies around the world,” Free Press Senior Counsel and Director of Digital Justice and Civil Rights Nora Benavidez said. “Today, hundreds of civil-society groups are putting these companies on notice: Failure to uphold and enforce sound election-integrity policies and expand non-English staffing to monitor disinformation, political deepfakes and other harmful content will be catastrophic to free and fair elections worldwide.”
Free Press co-founder Robert W. McChesney once declared, “Our job is to make media reform part of our broader struggle for democracy, social justice, and, dare we say it, socialism,” Newsbusters’ report noted.
The report explained that major social media companies, such as Discord, Google, Instagram, Meta, Pinterest, Reddit, Rumble, Snap, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube, received a letter from organizations, researchers, and journalists calling for the implementation of “election integrity policies.”
Condemning that media companies have reduced “interventions necessary to keep online platforms safe and healthy,” the letter urged tech groups to take “swift action” to implement better policies.
The letter then urged tech companies to moderate content “around the Big Lie,” or the problems surrounding the 2020 presidential election.
At least 45 of the letter’s signatories are funded by Soros and have received $80,757,329 between 2016 and 2022.
The signatory with the greatest Soros funding is Global Witness, a climate change organization that previously pressured media companies to censor posts leading up to the 2022 elections.
According to Newsbusters, Soros “funded the group with a massive $20,338,270 between 2016 and 2022.”
Another group, called Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) received more than $3 million from Soros between 2017 and 2022.
“The fact that Free Press is at the tip of this Soros-tied spear should concern every American,” Newsbusters wrote. “Free Press’s obsession with censorship and gaining control of the Internet cannot be overstated.”
MRC Free Speech America vice president Dan Schneider told Fox News Digital that Soros is “using his vast wealth and power to silence regular Americans ahead of the 2024 election.”
“At a time when defending free speech is key, leftists are trying their best to shut down the voices of half of America, especially those who disagree with the radical agenda promoted by Biden, Soros, and most Big Tech executives,” he said.
American Faith reported that Soros also purchased $400 million of debt in Audacy, the nation’s second-largest radio station chain.
Audacy confirmed the purchase in a statement: “The decision by our existing and new debtholders to become equity holders in Audacy represents a significant vote of confidence in our company and the future of the radio and audio business.”
The radio chain owns more than 220 stations across the United States.
Many speculate the purchase will be used to influence public opinion leading up to the 2024 election.
In September, Donald Trump sent an email to supporters that read, “Soros is desperate to stop us,” adding, “The Soros Dynasty just revealed their new plan for 2024: spend whatever it takes to try and stop the people from having a voice in their own country.”
