74% of Delta COVID Infections Are Among ‘Fully Vaccinated’: CDC

Intending to defend its position reversal to now recommending even vaccinated wear masks, the CDC released a study showing 3/4 of Covid-19 infected individuals had been vaccinated.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The study released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) examined a coronavirus outbreak in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
  • The study of 469 cases found that three-quarters (74%) of people testing positive had been fully vaccinated.
  • Four out of five patients who were hospitalized had also been fully vaccinated.
  • Most of the inoculated had completed two rounds of vaccine doses only 86 days before infection.
  • Most had been vaccinated with either Pfizer or Moderna’s jabs.
  • The study also noted that 79% of vaccinated patients were symptomatic.
  • Calling the Cape Cod study findings “pivotal,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the decision to now recommend even vaccinated individuals wear face coverings was made because of those findings.
CURRENT VACCINES AREN’T EFFECTIVE AT PREVENTING INFECTION:
  • RT notes that the CDC report “lends weight to the argument that the current crop of vaccines aren’t as effective against the Delta variant,” even though the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) “both insist that vaccination is effective against ‘severe disease and death’ from the virus, to quote WHO technical lead Maria Van Kerkhove in a briefing earlier on Friday.”
  • “The study appears to negate the argument by top health officials that unvaccinated Americans are responsible for the fourfold rise in Covid-19 cases in the US since June,” notes RT.
BACKGROUND:
  • The CDC reversal on face coverings led to mask mandates being issued in companies, government departments, and certain local jurisdictions followed, as CDC Director Rochelle Walensky insisted the decision was made on the back of fresh scientific evidence.
  • (CDC) revised its masking guidelines on Tuesday, urging all Americans in areas with high Covid-19 transmission to mask up when indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
  • 90% of all the Cape Cod infections involved the Delta variant of the coronavirus, according to lab tests.
  • Social media posts showing medical figures reversing position on the effectiveness of mask-wearing, such as Dr. Anthony Fauci (see below), have been circulating online.
