A new peer-reviewed study by Panagis Polykretis and Dr. Peter McCullough has found that 279 U.S. athletes and former athletes have died from cardiac arrests after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, The Epoch Times reports.
The study analyzed data from 2021 to 2022 and found that at least 1,616 cardiac arrests occurred in vaccinated athletes globally, with 1,114 of those being fatal.
Of those fatalities, 279 were former and current American athletes.
According to Dr. McCullough, athletes typically have a lower risk of cardiac arrest and sudden cardiac death compared to non-athletes.
A 2016 study found that non-athletes have a 29 times higher chance of sudden cardiac death compared to athletes, Epoch Times notes.
This is because athletes are screened for common causes of sudden death, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which accounts for nearly 50% of sudden cardiac deaths in athletes.
However, the data from this new study shows that in 2022 alone, over 190 deaths from cardiac arrests were reported in current and former athletes.
This does not include athletes with unknown vaccine statuses or those whose names were not reported in the media.
Dr. McCullough believes that there is no doubt that sudden cardiac deaths have increased following vaccinations.
The cardiologist also pointed to studies that have shown high rates of myocarditis following COVID vaccinations.
Based on these findings, McCullough estimates that around 25,000 people per million could potentially suffer from heart injuries after receiving two or three doses of the COVID vaccine.
“I’m very concerned,” said McCullough. “This is a public health problem. I think it is incumbent upon individuals to disclose their vaccine status.”
He believes that it is important for athletes to know their vaccine status in order to protect themselves and their teammates.
McCullough said “there’s no doubt” that sudden cardiac deaths have increased following vaccinations.
