1 Killed, 2 Wounded in Democrat Run Chicago

A man was killed and two others were wounded in a shootout early Monday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, authorities reported.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of South Paulina Street. Police said two 32-year-old men were arguing with a 25-year-old when the argument escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

The 25-year-old was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified him.

One of the 32-year-olds suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and is listed in critical condition at Stroger Hospital. The other was shot in the left arm and is in good condition, according to police.

No arrests have been made, and Area Three detectives are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Earlier this week, a violent encounter on Chicago’s West Side left one person critically injured and involved a shootout between police and a gunman.

Chicago police responded to reports of gunfire and a man armed with a gun near the 5700 block of West North Avenue at approximately 12:45 a.m. Upon arrival, officers witnessed the gunman firing multiple shots at another individual who was already on the ground.

As officers approached, the gunman turned his weapon on them, striking their squad car. An officer returned fire before the suspect fled the scene. The gunman was later apprehended, and no officers were injured during the exchange.

The victim, who had been shot multiple times, was provided emergency aid by officers before being transported to a nearby hospital. Their condition remains unknown.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the incident. Following standard protocol, the officers involved will be placed on administrative duties for at least 30 days.
